Friday Freeze Frame

Sometimes it is ok, not to know where the road leads.

Simply, enjoy the journey.

Answer to Monday's Mystery Photo

Here is Monday's Mystery Photo again....

And the one person to guess it right (sort of) was Charlotte! She's pretty good at these. The photo is scroll work on a mailbox name plate, just not ours. It belongs to Ralph's grandparents.

Here it is.

I took this photo in January of this year. I had gone over to their place to take photos of Ralph's sister and family, and as I was pulling out of the drive I saw this and stopped. I could not help, but to think of all the letters this mail box has seen come and go. My family was the recipient of many letters from here.
Cards of encouragement.
Letters of family goings on.
Weather reports.
And always words of wisdom, kindness and focus on our Creator.

I was going through some old cards and letters the other day and ran across one Grandma had written, from at least 10 years back. She always cared what was doing in our lives.

Grandma (or Mom-mom as our girls call her) will be gone 1 year this week. I am so thankful for her influence in my life. I think of her when my youngest starts whistling a happy tune, when I hear a harmonica and when I see an armadillo. Her words continue to encourage and inspire with the life she and Grandpa had together.

Remembering and being thankful.....

Monday's Mystery Photo

Here is Monday's Mystery Photo....

This photo was not taken in the past week. It was actually taken in January of this year. It is part of something that has me reminiscing this week.

So, what is it?

Friday Freeze Frame

I was listening to 'talk radio' the other day. Something I rarely do, because 9 times out of 10 I wind up aggravated and wondering if we did more good instead of talking about more good the world might actually be a better place. But, I digress. This particular show was discussing this news story . And it got me thinking about the 10 Commandments.

They are found here....

In this chapter...

I started thinking, if we would all take these 10 simple steps to heart and follow them, the world would need less laws. Especially ridiculous ones like this.  Really? There has to be a law for saggy pants?  Or this.  Legislation for parents to report missing children in a timely manner? That's what our world has come to?

I honestly do not think more legislation is the answer. I do however think following these 10 rules would make the world a better, safer place.

Listening to your parents when they tell you to pull your pants up would be enough.

"You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor." - no lying. Or murdering. Those would take care of Ms. Anthony.

The question that keeps running through my mind is this, "If we can't follow 10 simple rules, do we really need to be passing more?".

Just some thoughts to ponder.

Answer to Monday's Mystery Photo

Here's Monday's Mystery Photo again.....

Here is the original photo....

Good job to Loretta, Charlotte & Shawn for guessing right! It's the underside of a mushroom.

After all the rain this weekend, our yard was full of mushrooms.

The girls had a fun time looking for Tinkerbell, and I had a fun time photographing.

I'm always amazed at the world around us and what we can see, if we'll just stop and look....

Monday's Mystery Photo

Ralph and I thought it would be cool to have a Monday's Mystery Photo, of an image I captured in the last week, and have y'all guess what it might be.

Here is the first, of hopefully many more, Monday's Mystery Photo.....

Happy guessing.

Oh, and the answer will be revealed later this week.

Friday Freeze Frame

After going quiet a while without much rain, we've been making up for it the last week or so.

And we are thankful we have been getting rain most every afternoon. Of course it does interrupt the daily dose of the girls redneck slip-n-slide.

But one thing about our girls, they can adapt. When it rains, you just learn to play in the rain.
Unless there it is lightning. Then you learn to run fast onto the porch.
Then they stand on the porch and stick their hands out to catch water dripping off the eaves.

And they let water drip off their chins.
Cause, it just fun that way.

And they can give big smiles for the camera and pretend they like the sister they are standing beside.

Then turn back around and let the rain pelt them in the face, again.

Look, even Buddy wants to play in the rain.

Yep, rain is a good thing.....

Friday Freeze Frame

How do you know when it's hot?

When the cows start standing in their water troughs, instead of drinking from them.

Yep, that's how you know it's hot.

Funny thing is, this is the second one in less than a week I've seen do this.

Smart cows, I could learn a thing or two from them.

Happy 10th birthday, Laney!

Our Laney turned double digits, yesterday. As the middle child I think sometimes, she feels she has to fight to be heard and understood. So, when it came time to open her presents, well, she did it with zeal.

Paper flying everywhere.

Even looks like the paper is levitating.

Yes, she has a mind of her own.

Green is her favorite color and she loves drawing peace signs on everything. As I was decorating her cake, she politely informed me that I needed to extend the middle line. If I didn't, then it would be the symbol for Toyota and not a peace sign.

I have no idea how she even knows those things.

And that is one of the many reason I love her so. She's her own person and confident in that. My prayer is she will remain that way....

Happy 10th birthday, Laney-bug! We love you.

Friday Freeze Frame

I was able to ride along with a dear friend on Monday evening, to Seaside. First time I had ever been to the beach there, and while she was working, I walked the beach. Here are a few images that I was able to capture.

And then this...

Yep, I had a wonderful time, just soaking up God's creation and spending time with a great friend. Little reminders of how full my life really is.
