We are having company for supper tonight. I was working on several different projects, so I asked Laney if she wanted to bake a cake. Wacky cake spefically. It's a recipe that Ralph loves and it's very easy to make. It also has ingredients that you would not find in a typical cake recipe.
She read the ingredients and I kept doing what I was doing. Then I heard her say, "OK, Mom, I've got everything. I'm ready to start."
And I looked at the counter and saw this...
Yep, she had laid all the ingredients out, in order, along with the measuring utensils.
How do we celebrate the first week of summer vacation - pink eye and a tonsillectomy. To say that we have been a little stir crazy around the house this week, well that's an understatement. Madison had her tonsils taken out last Friday and while she's been recouping, we've been hanging out here at home. Today the girls decided to make the most of a summer shower and play in the rain.
I love these last two shots. Pure joy and abandon while the rain is falling. I'm so glad that they can still find joy in the simple things.
I just finished reading “Plan B” by Pete Wilson. I knew by the question on the front cover, “What do you do when God doesn’t show up the way you thought he would?” that this book was going both challenge and affirm some things I have faced in my own faith walk. Mr. Wilson did not disappoint.
The book addresses what most people feel when they are going through a crisis, and if you are human, at some point in your life you will face a crisis such as job loss, sickness, financial ruin, death. This book goes beyond the standard Christian response and addresses the feeling that we have when tough situations happen, and how to have hope and work through the pain.
Mr. Wilson has done a wonderful job of intertwining timeless stories from the Bible with people sharing their stories. I will not say that this was an easy read. I would read a part then take a while to ponder on it. My copy now has many pages that are dog-eared, and for me that means it is a great book.
I highly recommend this book for those who have faced, or are facing your own Plan B. It will both encourage you and inspire you.
