My view yesterday.

This was my view yesterday.

My girls, in the Gulf, playing.

Gorgeous, would be an understatement.

So thankful we could go and play.

She might be a 'Type A'.

We are having company for supper tonight. I was working on several different projects, so I asked Laney if she wanted to bake a cake. Wacky cake spefically. It's a recipe that Ralph loves and it's very easy to make. It also has ingredients that you would not find in a typical cake recipe.

She began

She read the ingredients and I kept doing what I was doing. Then I heard her say, "OK, Mom, I've got everything. I'm ready to start."

And I looked at the counter and saw this...

Yep, she had laid all the ingredients out, in order, along with the measuring utensils.

Such a sweet girl.

But, I think it's safe to say she is a 'Type A'.

I can't wait to have cake!

Stir crazy

How do we celebrate the first week of summer vacation - pink eye and a tonsillectomy. To say that we have been a little stir crazy around the house this week, well that's an understatement. Madison had her tonsils taken out last Friday and while she's been recouping, we've been hanging out here at home. Today the girls decided to make the most of a summer shower and play in the rain.

I love these last two shots. Pure joy and abandon while the rain is falling. I'm so glad that they can still find joy in the simple things.

It won't be like this for long.

I saw this, this afternoon.
And I wondered.
How much longer before holding her daddy's hand will not be 'cool'?  When will his hand be replaced by holding another?
I was fifteen when I started holding her daddy's hand.
It won't be like this for long, and I will be greatful for every moment.

Music to my ears...

When the lids to these jars pop!
I love this time of year and the joy of putting veggies up.
By the way - this is squash and onions - absolutley wonderful stuff!

"Plan B" by Pete Wilson

I just finished reading “Plan B” by Pete Wilson. I knew by the question on the front cover, “What do you do when God doesn’t show up the way you thought he would?” that this book was going both challenge and affirm some things I have faced in my own faith walk.  Mr. Wilson did not disappoint.

The book addresses what most people feel when they are going through a crisis, and if you are human, at some point in your life you will face a crisis such as job loss, sickness, financial ruin, death. This book goes beyond the standard Christian response and addresses the feeling that we have when tough situations happen, and how to have hope and work through the pain.

Mr. Wilson has done a wonderful job of intertwining timeless stories from the Bible with people sharing their stories. I will not say that this was an easy read. I would read a part then take a while to ponder on it. My copy now has many pages that are dog-eared, and for me that means it is a great book.

I highly recommend this book for those who have faced, or are facing your own Plan B. It will both encourage you and inspire you.

Amazing view...

This is what we had the privilege to see late Sunday afternoon.  Definitely an amazing sight.
