Well today, I am thinking this week has finally gotten the better of me. If you've been reading the last few posts, you know what kind of week it has been. Today we were supposed to be headed to Gainesville, where I was going to hang out with one of my best friends, while Ralph was going to TailGator. Unfortunately Morgan began running a fever again yesterday afternoon and I did not feel comfortable her being out and about all day.
So, we sent Ralph on his way this morning and me and the girls have just been hanging out today. We did go into town to get pizza and some movies, new crayons and coloring books.
In Movie Gallery is when it had become apparent that this week may have rendered me incoherent, or at least taken my ability to speak clearly.
Let me set the stage for you. I had just spent the last 10 minutes getting my 3 girls to agree on movies. This is very closely resembles Congress trying to pass a bill - with Democrats and Republicans trying to agree on one thing. It's pretty near impossible. I did convince the girls to choose from the family section, where they each could pick a movie for 99 cents.
I'm not completely stupid.
So, I rounded the girls up and went to check out. Can I just say, as a mom of 3, how incredibly annoyed I get when I am at a check out counter with my girls. All candy and gum is put right at their eye level. So, I get the joy of repeatedly telling them no they can't have any candy.
Then I had to wait for the ones ahead of me to check out, which took a while, of course. All the questions that go along with checking out movies - "Do you want play guard protection? Do you want to join the mailing list? Do you want to become a member?"
I finally get there to check out and trying to keep the girls from touching things that we are NOT going to buy and in walks two friends, Chris and Joey, from church. I wave and say hi. I think they can see the frazzled look on my face. So, being the nice people they are, and knowing Morgan has been sick they ask how I'm doing.
You want to know what I said?
I said, "Oh, I'm just hanging in there. Ralph left me this morning."
Judging by the looks on their faces, I knew what I had just announced loudly for all of Movie Gallery shoppers to hear, had completely came out wrong.
So, I start laughing and say, "He didn't leave me, leave me. He just left for the day." To which Joey responds, "He has been complaining about you and your slacking off."
Thank God, it was somebody with a sense of humor.
I had to laugh. My brain and mouth are apparently on vacation from each other.
Maybe my body should follow suit and go sit on the beach somewhere. Now that's an idea.
Then maybe I won't have to worry about things that I just said.
