A good day

Today started out with the potential to be a typical Monday. Girls woke up and were in whiny, can't say or do anything right Momma, kind of moods. So, being the nice mother that I am I had them help clean house.

Yep, I'm nice like that.

We cleaned house. To the girls credit, they were a lot of help. They had the promise of going swimming to help motivate them.

I had a good conversation on the phone, with a dear friend, while the girls were swimming. During that conversation I realized how important friendships are, no matter the distance or effort it takes to maintain them. Friendship is important

This evening rolls around and I know that Ralph has had a rough day at work. I am trying to make sure the girls are in a good mood when he gets home, and I am working on supper. Then he walks through the door.

He is carrying a dozen roses. And not just any roses, but my favorite - coral colored roses.

It's not our anniversary. He hasn't screwed up royally.

Roses, just because.

I love roses, just because.

We had a good dinner and after that I started reading the first book in the Chronicles of Narnia series. My girls were actually enjoying it and begged me to keep reading!

Yes! My girls were enjoying me reading to them!

What had the potential to be a really sucky day, wound a being a really good day.

For that, I am thankful.
